Why did you become a peer mentor?
I became a mentor and feel very strongly about people having one because of my own experience with my husband’s injury. The first couple of months I was sad, angry, scared, and overwhelmed. I was contacted by a friend of a friend whose husband had a similar injury 10 years prior to my husband. They came to the hospital to meet us and from that day forward I knew we could do this! Just having someone who could relate to what I was going through and tell me it really was going to be alright was a game changer for me. I want to do the same for others!
