Why did you become a peer mentor?
I became a peer mentor because of what the program meant to me during my recovery immediately following my accident. Whether it was when I was in rehab or after I got home, anytime I would find myself at a low point, my peer mentor was there to help me turn things around. He was able to show me that I would have a meaningful and fulfilling life after paralysis. My goal as a peer mentor now is to instill that same feeling of hope in someone who is new to paralysis or dealing with a difficult time as a result of a spinal cord injury.
